Tunesemble

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 29 October 2026

The short version

1. Who we are

Tunesemble (“Tunesemble”, “we”, “us”) is an app for making music together, one part at a time. We are responsible (the “controller”) for the personal data described in this policy.

Tunesemble is currently in a pre-launch testing phase and is run by its founders in Germany. The full legal name and postal address of the operator will be added here before the public launch. Until then you can reach us for anything privacy-related at hello@tunesemble.com.

2. What we collect and why

Your account

When you sign in, we receive your email address. If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple gives us either your email or a private relay address, if you choose “Hide My Email”. If you sign in with email, we send you a sign-in link. We use your email only to sign you in and to contact you about your account.

Legal basis: performing our contract with you (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

Your profile

Your display name, handle and avatar colour, and, if you tell us, what you play. Other users see your display name and handle next to your public jams, joins, likes and comments. We use “what you play” to highlight jams that need your instrument.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.

What you record and share

The audio and video you record, thumbnails, jam titles, the instruments and settings you choose, and your likes and comments. We store your recordings and process them on our servers to mix them into a finished jam.

Recordings can include your voice and face, and anything else your microphone or camera picks up. Please think about that before you make a jam public.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR. You choose what to record and what to publish.

Microphone, camera and Photos

The app asks for the microphone and, for video takes, the camera. It uses them only while you record. If you save a jam to your device, the app asks for permission to add to your Photos. It never reads your photo library.

Error reports

When the app hits an error, it sends us a technical report: what went wrong, where in the code, and your device type, app version and operating system. These reports are set up to leave out your name, email, user ID and sign-in details. We use them only to find and fix bugs.

Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a working, secure app (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

On your device

The app keeps your sign-in session and preferences, such as your appearance setting, on your device. That data stays on the device and is removed when you sign out or delete the app.

This website

When you visit tunesemble.com, our web host processes your IP address and basic request data in its server logs to deliver the page and keep it secure (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We don’t set cookies on this website and don’t use analytics.

What we don’t do

We don’t show ads. We don’t track you across other apps or websites. We don’t sell or rent your data, and we don’t use your recordings to train AI models.

3. Who we share data with

We use a few service providers (“processors”) to run Tunesemble. They may use your data only on our instructions and under a data processing agreement.

Apple provides Sign in with Apple and distributes the app through the App Store and TestFlight. Apple handles that data under its own privacy policy, not on our instructions. For users in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, the company responsible is Apple Distribution International Limited (Ireland).

We may also disclose data where the law requires it, for example to comply with a court order.

Transfers outside the EU

Some providers are based in, or may access data from, countries outside the European Economic Area, such as Singapore or the USA. In that case the transfer is protected by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, where the provider is certified, or by the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses. You can ask us for a copy of these safeguards.

4. How long we keep it

5. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

Email hello@tunesemble.com to use any of these rights. We’ll answer within one month.

You also have the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority, either in the EU country where you live or in Germany, where we are based.

6. Age

Tunesemble is for people aged 16 and over. We don’t knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If you think a child under 16 is using Tunesemble, let us know and we’ll delete the account.

7. Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Recordings are stored in private storage, and each file can be opened only by people allowed to see its jam. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and will tell you if a breach puts it at risk.

8. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If a change matters, for example when paid plans arrive, we’ll tell you in the app before it takes effect.
